This game is plain and simple horrible. It's a waste of time and I regret the decision of sticking through the end.1) Trading mechanics is as simple as it gets. You buy cheap good from one town and sell it to another (usually two spaces away). That is it. There is no decision making involved.2) Combat is actually ok. It's something I have not seen before. It's rock paper scissors but with dice drafting. Dice are rolled with different values and you alternate with the enemy in picking them and add the value to one of the 3 scores. It's the best and only working part of the game.3) AI is terrible. He has two purple dice of 10 and 40, and he picks a 10. There is never a reason to pick the lower number.4) But the most frustrating thing about the game are random events. When you travel sometimes you get moved to a screen where you see your caravan slowly walk 5-7 seconds. After, something happens, like you can send a sage to snatch a plant, he fails, and you see an outro for 3 seconds. Seeing as the game is mostly about travel from point A to B sometimes excruciatingly slowly, the random events take a huge amount of time as they add up.5) Quests are dumb as as they come. Sometimes they ask you to bring certain materials, except you don't always know which merchants have them so you go from town to town in hopes you will collect them all without wasting time. Or you are sent to random fetch quest, or my personal favorite, mid-way through travel you fulfill the quest requirement but can't simply turn around. Nope, you have to go to your initial destination first and then go back.This game has not one redeeming quality. Save your money or at least your time.. This game is fairly unique, I haven't played anything quite like it before.It would be nice if you could choose when to save rather than relying on the autosave when you reach each town though. It is also a bit unclear at first how to heal and level up, but once you start hiring more people for your party things get much easier, especially once you have a sage and mercenary. Overall this is a thoroughly enjoyable game. It takes about 8-9 hours to complete the storyline.. Simply put this is a great game and although it does have some flaws I'd still recommend it. Why? Because it reminds me of both Taipei and Drug Wars in so many ways, and if you remember these old games you'll know exactly what I'm talking about, and if you loved them you'll certainly like Caravan...So let's get into the pros and cons...PROS:- The graphics, considering the style of game, are good although simplistic;- The sound track is awesome- The game reminds me of the old game Taipei, and if you still remember Taipei and you enjoyed that then you'll enjoy this- The user interface is easy to useCONS:- The combat mechanics, which is a nice idea, needs to be implemented with more complexity along with a major improvement in the AI tactics behind it.- The random events when moving between towns need to be more random and the user to be forced to take more combat actions as opposed to the ability to avoid combat 95% of the time.That said, the combat system does work and so does the events that come up, I'd just prefer further complexity inside both.. Seems like a fine game, the big complaint I have is the speed at which it moves / allows skipping of text. It just takes too long to actually play.. Very relaxing and fun game. I might be biased, as I love the Oriental setting (in games like Anno 1404 for example as well, as well as in Aladdin), but I really enjoyed this game. Sure it becomes a grind at some point, but you're working towards a goal of avenging the tragedy that overcame your parents/hometown, as well as trying to become the best caravan trader possibly. Your caravan grows slowly but surely.The fight-system is also kinda fun at first, but later on you discover the AI is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and that you can win easily. Also there's not much difference between regions except the products. There could be more depth into the game. Make the grind less present, and introduce things like competing caravan traders, or cartels, or more dealings with djins and Oriental culture. Or some kind of empire building featuresBut it's a game. And therefore it will keep having it's limitations. The end wasn't very satisfactory either to be honest. But overall I consider this game to be worth it's money.If I could give the devs some advice, then it would be to look at the game Turmoil. It started out with a simple concept too, yet they expanded functions and additions greatly.. A decent enough little trading game for 1hr or 2. Not worth the asking price, as you've seen everything in the first hour, and there's some repetition required to progress in the story, and no randomness on each "run".The difficulty is very steep, and the levelling aspect could be better handled.
